Move aside turkey and bring on the sugar cookies and fruitcake! The Christmas season is here and I am feeling very jolly. All that yummy food and friends that boarded with me over Thanksgiving have put me into such a good mood =) I'm looking forward to even more friends staying with me this Christmas season (we already have several reservations for Christmas you better hurry and sign your pets up before there are no spots left!)

Also, remember this holiday season to be careful about all those lights and wires (we animals like to chew on things). I would hate for your Christmas tree lights to be out and Fido visiting me to tell me his "shocking" story. Tis the season to be jolly so remember to be kind not only to your animal friends but to each other! MEOWY CHRISTMAS!!!!

Boo! Happy Halloween!!!

It's that time of year again...costumes, pumpkins, falling leaves and changing weather. Speaking of costumes, I haven't quite decided what I'll be this year for Halloween. I thought maybe a pirate or Sherlock Holmes, but I haven't gotten a chance to go out and see whats out there. You see, its been quite busy here. We have a vet here more Saturdays than normal...almost every Saturday we've had a vet! Busy, busy, busy, but I must have a costume...Halloween is just around the corner!

Thanksgiving and Christmas are also around the corner. I lOvE these two holidays...I make so many friends when kitties and doggies come to stay here. I remember one holiday when we had more than 30 friends stay here! Which reminds me, we still have open kennels now, but the way things have been going, we just might run out! So hurry and reserve your kennel...it will be a great time!

Today is a perfect day for a walk! Sunny and cool, I'll enjoy it from my window though. I don't enjoy walking on a leash. Although I do enjoy bird watching :) My good friend Yoda is doing much better at not picking his feathers. Please stop by to visit him and let him know how great he looks!

Good news everybody, my friend Mollie the Maltese had 2 adorable puppies on Monday. They came in to visit me yesterday and Mollie had her mom send me more pictures so I could share the news.

Also, some of you may have seen my buddy Sparky running around the clinic. He loves to follow me around and bat at my tail. I don't mind tho. It feels like a little tail massage sometimes.

This rain has made me want to stay in bed all day. I'm hoping the sun comes out again today so my spot by the window will get nice and warm. For now I'm going back to be lazy in the comfy bed.

Just wanted to stop by and say hello to everyone. The weather is wonderful outside so get out and enjoy it if you can. Here's a funny little story I got in my email today.

"The Duck Is Dead"

A woman brought a very limp duck into a veterinary surgeon. As she laid her pet on the table, the vet pulled out his stethoscope and listened to the bird's chest.

After a moment or two, the vet shook his head sadly and said, "I'm sorry your duck, Cuddles, has passed away."

The distressed woman wailed, "Are you sure?"

"Yes, I am sure. The duck is dead," replied the vet.

"How can you be so sure?" she protested... "I mean you haven't done any testing on him or anything. He might just be in a coma or something."

The vet rolled his eyes, turned around and left the room..

He returned a few minutes later with a black Labrador Retriever. As the duck's owner looked on in amazement, the dog stood on his hind legs, put his front paws on the examination table and sniffed the duck from top to bottom.
He then looked up at the vet with sad eyes and shook his head.

The vet patted the dog on the head and took it out of the room.

A few minutes later he returned with a cat. The cat jumped on the table and also delicately sniffed the bird from head to foot. The cat sat back on its haunches, shook its head, meowed softly and strolled out of the room.

The vet looked at the woman and said, "I'm sorry, but as I said, this is most definately, 100% certifiably, a dead duck."

The vet turned to his computer terminal, hit a few keys and produced a bill, which he handed to the woman. The duck's owner, still in shock, took the bill. "$250?" she cried, "$250 just to tell me my duck is dead?"

The vet shrugged, "I'm sorry. If you had just taken my word for it, the bill would have been $20, but with the Lab Report and the Cat Scan, it's now $250."

More puppies and... snow?

Last week my friend, Little Girl, was boarding with us. She was expecting puppies too! The girls were so excited hoping she would have them here. When she went home she had the puppies so that her mom could see them. There were 7, 6 girls and 1 boy! Now her and the puppies are here to board and visit with us because her mom had a baby this morning! Exciting right? I just love puppies. They are adorable and each is so very different from the other.

It snowed here too! How crazy is that? Snow in San Antonio. Man am I glad I got to stay inside and not get all wet. I enjoyed just sitting in the window and watching it fall.

Remember, spring is puppy season. I am a firm believer in adoption so please visit your local shelter or rescue if you are looking for a new furry friend. I just love when puppies come to visit at the clinic! They are fun to play with! My friend Reagan brought her puppy Bonni to come visit me today. They were so much fun! Can't wait to see them again. Remember, puppies need 3-4 sets of vaccines every 3 weeks!

Although it is warm and the urge to lay on clean clothes is extremely strong, I do not recommend sleeping in the dryer. The girls got mad at me when I tried to. They said I would come out twice as fluffy!

Today I have spent the morning trying to help Vanessa and Katie file and organize paperwork. I got in trouble though. They told me I wasn't supposed to sit on the papers. It's just really hard to grab them with no thumbs so I decided to come blog instead. That's pretty hard too. My paws are big and it takes me forever with my typing mistakes. I'm glad they check it for me. Well, I'm off to lay by the window again.

Brr.. it is freezing outside! I don't even want to sit up front right now. Everytime the door opens I get chilled to the bones even through my fur coat. I just wanted to get on real quick and remind everyone that it is only going to get colder. Be sure to make sure your furry four legged friends come inside and stay nice and warm! Happy New Year everyone!! There's lots of fun changes going on here. All the Christmas decorations are down so now I have my spot by the front window back.

The girls are going to be updating and changing the website this week. They also wanted me to share something with you..

Red Shirt Fridays

"Last week, while traveling to Chicago on business, I noticed a Marine sergeant traveling with a folded flag, but did not put two and two together..

After we boarded our flight, I turned to the sergeant, who'd been invited to sit in First Class (across from me), and inquired if he was heading home.
'No', he responded.
'Heading out?' I asked.
'No. I'm escorting a soldier home.'
'Going to pick him up?'
'No. He is with me right now. He was killed in Iraq , I'm taking him home to his family.'

The realization of what he had been asked to do hit me like a punch to the gut. It was an honor for him. He told me that, although he didn't know the soldier, he had delivered the news of his passing to the soldier's family and felt as if he knew them after many conversations in so few days.

I turned back to him, extended my hand, and said,
'Thank you. Thank you for doing what you do so my family and I can do what we do.'

Upon landing in Chicago the pilot stopped short of the gate and made the following announcement over the intercom.

'Ladies and gentlemen, I would like to note that we have had the honor of having Sergeant Steeley of the United States Marine Corps join us on this flight. He is escorting a fallen comrade back home to his family. I ask that you please remain in your seats when we open the forward door to allow Sergeant Steeley to deplane and receive his fellow soldier. We will then turn off the seat belt sign.'

Without a sound, all went as requested. I noticed the sergeant saluting the casket as it was brought off the plane, and his action made me realize that I am proud to be an American.. "

Our clinic has made the decision to wear red on Fridays in honor of our military. We ask that you please do the same and stop by our clinic for a thank you from our staff.

It’s raining cats and dogs here in San Antonio. Ok not really but pretty close. It’s chilly outside. I’m glad the girls keep it nice and toasty in here for me. The animals and their humans come in all wet.. oh, I’m going to cut this short. It’s time to go sit by the front door and look outside before they notice the wet paw prints on the keyboard.

What happened when the cat went to the flea circus?

Holy cannoli! These puppies are driving me crazy.

I’m glad the girls are feeding them so they will be quiet again.

Things have been staying busy here at the clinic. Well, for everyone except me that is. Life’s good here. Feel free to stop by and say hi. You can't miss me, I'm the big cat sitting in my spot keeping the front desk warm and watching for birds. :)

Well I hope everyone had a great Thanksgiving and ate lots of turkey. The clinic was pretty quiet with everyone gone. I was able to stretch out and relax. The girls decorated everything for Christmas. They kinda scared me this morning. I thought the tree was singing to me but then I found the radio they had hidden back there. Pretty sneaky. It’s been cold and rainy here but I don’t mind because I have my nice fur coat.

Since the girls put the code word online no one has come in for a nail trim until today. The girls are all in red today they say its something called Red Fridays. People wear red on fridays to support our troops. I wish I could wear red. Stop in and see me.

Surgery Day

If you have seen the video of me you would know that Surgery day is my favorite day. That blue mat that you see in the video is heated and it is my favorite spot to lay on after surgery day. Of course I dont really get to sleep there long I always get caught and get moved.

Today is going to be exciting I think something is in the air. The girls at the clinic seem to be moving around alot so I think that a good thing. I know that they decided on winners for the Halloween contest. Not that many contestants this year but its ok first time is always rocky. Stop in and see me.

November Already

Wow. Cant believe its november already time really flies when you are a cat. Days are long sleeping, eating, and greeting clients. The days have began to be beautiful though sunny but cool. i dont really make it outside though. Today is going to be a good day I have a feeling. The staff at Heritage thought that I should put my thoughts down somewhere and maybe people might read them.
